Filters and semantic roles

Restrict a style to report areas, tablixes, sections, controls, text properties or dataset fields. Conditions include font, size, colour, alignment, padding, borders, expressions, field names and data types.

Semantic filters use field roles such as text, date, amount, quantity, percentage, Boolean or identifier. Recognition considers type, origin, name and usage. A style can therefore address amount fields without knowing their exact names. Prefer general properties and semantic roles for reusable styles; use control names when a rule intentionally targets one layout.
